So there were rumors going around about a July 1st StarCraft 2 Phase 2 beta launch. I’m not exactly sure where it originated from (some interview?), but its July 1st today, and I’m still hoping that Phase 2 will begin any minute now, though I’m not holding my breath for it, since WoW Cataclysm Beta started today, so I figured the whole company already has their hands full.
Here’s the only relevant blue post I can find on the forums about a July 1st Phase 2 beta:
I always find it interesting to see what people define “early” or “late” to mean. So, you’re saying that “early July” is equal to the first half of July. It seems others thought that early July meant the 1st of July. Some seem to count the first week as early and the next two as mid.
That said, we’ll keep you all informed on the start of the next phase, no worries. I’m just stunned that it’s already July as of tomorrow. How time flies when you have a lot to get done before the exciting launch of a game.
This is a pretty damn sweet (pun intended) StarCraft cake. I want one for my birthday.
Check out the way the cake was made and many props to the baker.
As of this writing, the Join the Dominion campaign is actually at 57%.
But when it hit the 50% mark, a short video was unlocked. It is a recap of the Starcraft story, and it is one of two videos, so the second video is probably going to recap what happened in Brood War. Hopefully, the second video isn’t what we’ll get at 100%, because I am waiting for something spectacular, but thats just me.
Also, for those that haven’t taken the Dominion entrance exam, my little brother got to be a Thor Pilot, which was what I wanted to be, though being a Ghost is cool too. At least I wasn’t assigned to be cannon fodder, err I mean a marine.

Sorry this came a day late. I was pretty damn hung over yesterday and I totally forgot to post this week’s Fan Art Friday in time. Thanks to a reader for reminding me! Without further adieu, I present a line art piece by Jesse aka Jellishot, featuring our favorite hot Zerg queen.
The artist, Jess only finished a handful of Starcraft related pieces, but has a gallery full of video game related artwork and so you should check out his deviantArt for eye candy.
Blizzard’s Dominion campaign started a week ago from today and I wanted to post an update on the content that was unlocked from this campaign. So far, it includes 4 artwork pieces, 2 sound files, and 2 sound packs for your cell phone. I wonder what the last one will be? Hope its something crazy awesome.
If you are as much an art fiend as I am, especially for Starcraft related stuff, you should definitely check it out.
Via a June 24th Korean press conference as reported by PlayXP and translated by TeamLiquid News.
Chris Siggarty announced the final closed beta is going to be for around 2 weeks starting in early July.
Its not a definitive date, but at least its something right?
This post is for my cousin who’s been bugging the hell out me because he’s so convinced that there will be new units in phase 2 beta. I keep telling him that the new units will probably be added with the (2 planned) expansions. But here it is, a quote from a blue name refuting my cousin. I bolded for emphasis.
What you saw in phase one (with the exception of character codes and some minor balance tweaks) is what you’ll see in phase two, and release. A lot of the larger feature integration and refinement plans that we’ve been discussing recently are planned for post-launch.
BOOYAH.
Check the B.net forums for the discussion.
Similar to how Razer partnered with Blizzard in creating StarCraft 2 gaming gear, so has SteelSeries. I own a SteelSeries ZBoard and its pretty sweet. I bought it three months ago, but I’m having buyer’s remorse right now because I wish I had known about the SC2 gear (even though I should have known!) for the SC2 gear to come out before buying. /headdesk

I know I mentioned this before, but yeah, we’ll probably be running a contests giving away one of these keyboards or something. At least that can be written off as a business expense.. I think…
In the meantime, check out the SteelSeries website and see for yourself.
Just thought I would put this out there since this seems there was some drama on the B.net forums about it.
There will definitely be “chat channels” coming in one of the patches after the release. The system will be based around groups, where you will be able to join public channels that are based around your interests, which can be virtually anything. Also the system will include private chat channels (in plans for release in the first few months after the release), where you will be able to meet with your friends.
So there you have it. There will be chat channels. It might not come at the release of the game, but it will come eventually.
